New Year: Photos of 2009

With the new year coming up, I decided to summarize the old year in pictures. I picked one photo I've taken each month in 2009, it's kind of hard picking the best of each month, but I tried, so here are one of the best pics I've taken for each month!

New Year: Summary of 2009

Hi! Since the new year is coming up I just thought I'd list up some of the most important things that happened this past year.

I was stupid enough to fall in love with a girl named Jackie.

I did work practice at a pre-school where I got to know some very wonderful children.

I fell out of love with Jackie.

I went to a great Diamanda Galás concert.

I fell in love with my best friend, we met in real life several times and spent lots of time together.

My cat Yuffie died.
She was eleven years old and had kidney failure.
Luckily my boyfriend/best friend was with me and he comforted me a lot.

My little sister Lydia went to America as an exchange student or whatever they call it these days.
She's not coming back to Sweden until next Summer.

I broke up with my amazing boyfriend/best friend, because I found someone else.
My ex doesn't wanna be friends anymore.
I'm gonna miss that beautiful man, but I'm falling in love again, which is great!
My new man's name is Stuart.

Snowb

Well, Sweden sure is cold! Today was something between -15 and -6 Celcius locally. Going out, I wore

One tanktop
One longsleeved top
Another longsleeved top
One t-shirt
One knit sweater
One hoodie sweater
One pair of panties
Another pair of panties
One pair of tights that cover feet
Another pair of tights that cover feet
One pair of pants
Another pair of pants
A pair of socks
A long coat
One pair of extra thick snow pants
A knit cap
A scarf
Thick gloves
One pair of boots

So I was only somewhat cold

The kids love the snow though!

"It is good snowb. It is good snowb" *Licks snowb*
"Snow is full of germs"

...

*Keeps licking snowb*
"Snow is full of germs"

...

*Keeps munching on snowb*
*Shakes head at child*
*Nods at me*
*Rubs child's adorable nose*

...

*Teaches younger child how to properly eat snowb*
"Guys, you know how many germs there are in snow? Guys? You can get sick if you eat that!" *Blows kiss at children and give up*

It was my last day at the pre-school today. Now those kids will have to do without me! I sure will miss 'em.

New Info On The Kids

I just read some updates on the children who fell out a window in August, I wrote about them back then when it happened. They're all alive, but it's not all good news, I'm almost crying a little. Ayub and Filip recovered quite perfectly, but all is not well with Samira. She had to remove a piece of her skull, so now she has to wear a helmet all the time - She could die if she hit her head again. Also, she sometimes gets severe memory loss, so bad that she cannot even remember her mother. Apparently there's a 50 per cent chance of her memory going back to normal. Such a gorgeous, lively little girl cannot play like children do and her parents have to worry all the time. It's such a tragedy. I'm glad she's alive at least.

Orphan

The other night I saw a new horror movie called "Orphan". I'm the kinda girl who LOVES a good horror film, but with about 90 % of horror movies, I just sit there judging the poor plot, acting, special effects and directing that most horror movies - And movies in general - Have. However, this one was great and it was really freaking scary - Seriously, I got... What ya callit... Not exactly scared but you know... What good thrillers do... Thrill you... I got thrilled... Thinking it was really scary, wondering what would happen next.

So, I can safely say it's a very good movie. However, there was one thing in the movie that really disturbed me. There was a scene when a couple fucked in their kitchen, while their three children were at home, so they were a bit scared that the kids would walk in on them and one did walk in on them, a nine year old girl.

The next morning, the mom went to talk to her about it, explaining that when grownups love each other they wanna show it. The girl interrupts her mom, saying "I know. They fuck." This TOTALLY shocked the mom and she went to talk to her husband about it. "The way she said it, it wasn't like she had just overheard the word, it was like SHE KNEW WHAT IT MEANT", then, she added "It was like she didn't expect to get in trouble for it."

HELLO?! Earth to fictional mommy, of course a nine year old knows what sex is and uses the word "fucking" to describe it. It's informal. Children aren't supposed to say that grownups "have sex" or "make love", now THAT would be kinda creepy! Also, WHY would she get in trouble over it? She walked in on her parents fucking doggystyle in the kitchen. While their three kids were home. THEY should get in trouble.

Also, why would she get in trouble for telling her mom she already knows what sex is? "When grownups like each other, they want to show it..." "I know, they fuck." That seems like a very sensible and expected response from a nine year old girl. It would have been strange if she didn't know what sex was - Or if she used an expression like "have sex" or "make love", as I already pointed out, both because she's expected to be a bit angry and rude to her parents if they fuck in the kitchen while their kids are home, risking being walked in on (besides, parents don't make beautiful love to each other, parents fuck in disgusting and unholy ways, because, well, they're your parents) and because "fuck" is basically the first expression for sex that kids learn.

What the fuck, movie mom, how messed up is your sense of reality? Also, there was all the horror and scary stuff in the movie, but that's sorta expected in a horror movie, so yeah, that doesn't really disturb me, maybe if it was labeled as a children's movie, but it's a horror movie, so yeah.

Updates On The Children

In my last entry, I wrote about the Swedish children who fell out a window in their school, in my community, Järfälla, in Sweden. I am ever-so-slightly acquainted to these kids, I don't know them personally but it still feels so "close", when something like this happens to such young kids and so nearby. But for all people with children - Or just a nurturing mind, like me - It can feel almost like it's your own kid even if it happens miles away.

Filip Pieczka, 7 years old
Filip is at hospital being treated for a skull injury. He had a small bleeding in his brain, but he's gonna be fine. The boy doesn't remember anything of his accident at the moment. He longs home to his Playstation and says he wants to change schools and only study on the ground floor in the future.

Samira Hassan, 6 years old
Samira got the worst injuries of all three children. She's had surgery on several parts of her body, such as her hips, head and liver. She still has more treatment to go through, but she's gonna live. Last news I read about her is that she is still anesthetized, waiting for more surgery, but that she's shown signs of recovery by moving her legs a little.

Ayub Aden, 5 years old
This miracle boy was lucky enough to escape without any injury! He's still under observation in the hospital, but all seems well with him and he longs back to school, in spite of what happened.

Yesterday Was A Fun Day

Yesterday was a fun day... We had a party for me and Majken, since I turned 20 on the 16th and Majken turned 1 on the 17th. So, I went up, took a shower, washed my hair and went downstairs to eat my lunch. That's when I noticed there was a butterfly trapped in the window, between the layers of glass.
Butterfly on my finger

I asked my father to open up so I could rescue the butterfly. It seemed a bit weak from the lack of oxygen, also, it seemed to be a young one. I took it out and it just sat on my finger. After a while it got more energy and fluttered a bit with its wings, walking around on me. When it tried to fly, though, it only landed on the ground, it couldn't stay in the air for long.
Butterfly in my hair

Either way, I was in a hurry, so as much as I wanted to stay to make sure the butterfly learned to fly properly, I had to go and eat my lunch and wrap my presents for Majken, so I put the butterfly down on some flowers in a flower pot. I quickly finished my lunch and I wrapped up the gifts for Majken and then we went to the party.
Butterfly on my hand

It was the awesomest party ever. The kids were completely out of control! I joked "If we close our eyes we can pretend they aren't this wild." It was Ebba, 7, Olga, 3, Tora, 3, Nils, 2, Iris, 1 and Majken, 1. Hedvig was unfortunately not there, she is on vacation so she couldn't come. Damn, I love all these kids.
Ebba, Majken and a doll

Ebba was the only one who was remotely calm. She was so sweet to the little kids. I could tell that Majken felt really safe with her. Olga and Tora were of course totally out of control, doing everything that they're not supposed to do. They're tough to deal with, but I love them so much. Nils was pretty wild too, he pretty much followed Olga and Tora and wanted to do everything they did!
Nils

Iris and Majken are a bit too small to be completely out of control, but a little out of control, they were. Iris pushed a doll stroller around the little apartment like crazy, while Majken was eagerly trying out her new walking skills by walking around, quite quickly, all over the place. The children did fight some, but they were remotely friendly with each other.
Iris

I'm really worried about Jackie. To lead me on and then just dump me, that's hurtful, but to say we are best friends and then block me from contacting her, that's cruel. Thinking of my best friend Frups makes it all better. He comforts me so much. Always has. I love you so much Frupsy.

The Countryside

The Countryside

By Signe Robertson, 2008-03-19

My name is Rachel. I live with my father, who works all the time, with some weird projects. Even if I was interested in his work, he would probably never have the time to explain it to me, since he works constantly. Anyway, my aunt, that is my father's sister, got sick and had to live in a hospital a while, so she asked my father to look after her three-year old daughter, Gina.

Of course, he said he could take care of her, which means, I was stuck looking after her all the time. Also, my father had this huge project going on and he said it would be the best if we would rent this big house in the countryside, I could relax there with Gina and he could have lots of space to work on this new project, whatever it was this time.

So, we packed our bags and went there, my father promised he would look after Gina a few hours every day, so that I could get some time to relax in the countryside for once. He really meant it, he is a great dad. So, he would work on his project and I would look after Gina and sometimes he would look after Gina and I could just relax for once.

I needed to relax a bit. For a few weeks I had just looked after Gina. I'm only twenty-one years old, I don't go to school or work, but I'm used to helping out at home, as my father is often busy obsessing about his new work projects and stuff. Me and my father have always gotten along well.

So, this countryside house I was talking about, it was a big house, much bigger than the little apartment we were used to. There was a weird school nearby, very old-fashioned, the principal even lived in a simple room in the school. His sister, who was a teacher at the school, also lived in a room at the school.

The principal had an eighteen-year old daughter named Zilla and his sister, the teacher had an eighteen-year old daughter named Pamela and a four-year old son named Harry. Zilla and Pamela went to the same school, yes, the weird school, there were only a few classes, it was really strange how they planned it.

You see, there was a pre-school right next to the school, for children between one and six, I would drop Gina off there sometimes, they were cool with it, they said it was OK, without even registering her, we didn't even have to pay any money, these people were really nice, they were aware we didn't have too much money and didn't know how long we'd stay in the countryside anyway.

In the actual school, there was one classroom for grades 1-3, one for 4-6, one for 7-9 and one for 10-12. Zilla and Pamela would both begin grade 12, after the summer vacation. As you might have understood already, Zilla and Pamela were cousins, Pamela was just one week older than Zilla and they looked almost like twins.

They were both the same height, had long brown hair and brown eyes. Zilla was just ever-so-slightly thinner than Pamela and had straight, light-brown hair, while Pamela's hair was darker and sort of wavy. Pamela and Zilla spent almost all their time together and they would look after Harry as well.

I quickly became friends with these girls and we would sit and talk about everything and nothing, while we were watching Harry and Gina play. Once, Harry threw sand at my sweet innocent little Gina and I ran over and lifted him up. "Hey, you can't throw sand at her! She's very sensitive and she's smaller than you!"

Pamela quickly ran up to me and said "Don't yell at my little brother like that! He is just a child, he doesn't know what he's doing!" Zilla would meddle between us and try to get us to be friends and it always worked, Zilla was such a sweet girl, not at all as passionate and bitchy as me and Pamela.

When we arrived to the countryside, you see, it was just in the end of the summer vacation, so Zilla and Pamela would just get back to school a few days after we arrived there. Pamela told me "Come into the classroom with us, it's really fun! They'll probably let you sit there and listen, our school is so great!"

Well, however enthusiastic Pamela sounded, school didn't seem like so much fun to me, but anyway, we dropped the little ones off at the pre-school and I followed the girls into the school. Zilla walked slowly and looked kind of sad, so I looked at her face and she said to me "Pamela's mom is the teacher. That's why she thinks school is so great. But my aunt isn't very nice to me. I like to skip class and just hide out somewhere."

Before I knew it, she grabbed my hand and took me outside, without Pamela even noticing it. Somebody else noticed though and apparently told the teacher on her. The teacher always got so angry at Zilla when she ran away, Zilla told me, that she would personally go out and just grab her hand and drag her back to the classroom.

I had heard Pamela talk about her cousin as her father's disappointment, she was a rebel, always doing what she felt like "But she's my cousin and I love her as she is", she said. Zilla and I were running away from the school, I didn't really understand why, I barely knew Zilla and I didn't know why it was so important for her to escape her teacher, who was by the way her own aunt, but Zilla was a nice girl and she looked seriously afraid of her teacher.

So, I followed her and we tried to run away somewhere, but there weren't really many places around to hide, I guess the escape wasn't so well planned. Zilla looked at me with terror in her face, saying she heard her aunt coming. So, she pulled me down in the high grass and we kept really low there among the wild grass and plants.

It wasn't too comfortable of course, grass and leaves and stones and dirt, but Zilla seemed seriously afraid and held me tight. I heard the teacher as well and I guessed this wasn't a good hiding place. Zilla looked me in the face and I looked back. I leaned towards her and kissed her, stupid me, kissing a girl, not even boys like me, surely a girl wouldn't like me.

When I had kissed her, she just looked at me and smiled and I smiled back, but then suddenly she was pulled out of my arms. The teacher had found us and grabbed Zilla and I looked at them both. "Zilla! You're a shame to the family and a shame to our nice little school. Always running away - And I see you have corrupted the girl from the old house nearby. You're always embarrassing me and my brother! No wonder your mother died giving birth to you. She would probably be ashamed if she saw her little girl grow up to this little rebel. Can't even go to school like her friends."

Zilla's aunt smacked Zilla in the face and then held her in a hard grip and led her back to school. I don't understand why she had to be so rough with her. Anyway, I thought it was best to follow Pamela's advice and start going to school with them from now on, if not just to keep an eye on Zilla, so her aunt wouldn't humiliate or hurt her somehow.

Things went on very casually after that, me, Pamela and Zilla did everything together, we were always three, nearly always looking after the children. Pamela really liked to talk a lot, she was always leading every conversation and me and Zilla would just look at each other a little bit and say a few things once in a while.

We would just sit and take it easy, eat some ice cream under the hot sun, look after the children and talk a bit, that way everything was fine and surely if we just stuck to Pamela, Zilla wouldn't get into any more trouble. Pamela would talk a lot and we would just let her go on and just put in a few comments now and then.

"So, as you can see, my taste in clothes is just great, I know it's summer, but still, black is never wrong and it is tacky to show too much skin, I don't know how you girls can mix colors like that, I mean, a red t-shirt and a green skirt, those colors don't even match! If you wear a red t-shirt you should have a red skirt, a black skirt, a denim skirt... ...Or a pair of jeans."

Whatever. We just let her ramble about her fashion stuff. Nobody wants to wear a black t-shirt with a bra under and a sweater and a pair of jeans under the hot sun, I don't care if it looks more proper that way, me and Zilla would just wear a top or t-shirt with a skirt or a pair of shorts to it, it's warm, nobody cares about fashion or covering up skin, it is warm in August and September, the sun is so hot, you even sweat wearing a bikini, we had to go swimming at least once a day.

So things were pretty good. We spent all time together, when we got up in the morning we would drop the kids off at the pre-school and go to school together and then we would spend our afternoons looking after the children, watching them play, making sure they got food and baths - And of course we would talk a lot with each other. One day, when it was very dry, a fire had started in the school, it was dry and windy in the air and the fire spread quickly.

I could tell this school wasn't well organized, the teachers panicked and weren't sure of how to evacuate the children. As I told you, the school was small and old-fashioned, but it had two floors and a basement and also, there was a pre-school right next to it. The fire and smoke spread quickly, people were panicking and the teachers couldn't decide how we should evacuate.

I panicked as well, I thought of Gina and I ran over to the pre-school, luckily I managed to get out quickly, I guess because I wasn't afraid of running through the smoke, I just tried to avoid inhaling it. Gina was safe, the pre-school was much better organized than the school. I helped getting the pre-school children out, really, the fire hadn't spread to that building at all, but we made sure to take the children somewhere safe.

Everybody in the small countryside community had heard about the fire, which spread quickly in the hot dry winds and people with cars, yes, even a few buses came to take all the people from the school and the few houses nearby to a farm, which was remotely nearby, but safe from the fire. There was a man from there, who had fallen in love with a Swedish woman a long time ago and moved to Sweden with her, they had a son together named Örjan. When the man's father died, he inherited a farm from him and they all moved to live on the farm and Örjan went to school in the same class as Pamela and Zilla.

So, it was good that we had the farm to escape to. Maybe it seems weird how a fire could spread so quickly, but that happens sometimes in the warm and windy countryside, where people just live their simple lives and aren't very well prepared for emergencies. You would think that as dry as it was, people would be more careful and prepare themselves more for things like this, I mean, if a fire would start somehow, it is quite predictable it would spread quickly, but I guess people were way too busy living their little country-side-family-lives.

Finally, we were all safe at the farm, some people who had panicked and not been able to escape the fire quickly, had got burns and some girls were upset about clothes being ruined by the smoke. I had Gina in my arms and I looked around for all the people I knew. Dad was there, Pamela, Harry, lots of familiar faces. I didn't see Zilla though. Maybe she didn't make it. Or maybe she finally ran away. Yes, a fire would be a good opportunity to escape, especially as panicky as people were there. Nobody would have been angry at her if they didn't find her. I know one thing though, she didn't start the fire, she would never hurt anybody.

So, I sat there with Gina in my arms and I thought to myself, Zilla ran away, she ran away somewhere far away where her dad and aunt wouldn't look for her. She probably caught a ride with somebody, somebody who had not yet heard of the fire, yes, she probably just said she had somewhere to go or something and just hitchhiked far away from this little community. That is what happened. I hugged little Gina and smiled.

The Fairy Tale of a Little Girl Named Mim

The Fairy Tale of a Little Girl Named Mim
By Signe Robertson 2008-03-31

Once upon a time, a woman named Celia and a man named Peter fell in love. They got married and after a year they had their first child, a boy named Harry. Two years later, they had a daughter named Victoria. Yet another two years later, they had their third child, another girl. Unfortunately, Celia died shortly after her third child was born. Peter suddenly became bitter, he was not at all the same as he had been before. He blamed the new child for the death of his wife, but he decided to try and take care of all three children anyway. He decided to just call his new daughter a simple short name, Mim.

So, time passed, the flowers on Celia's grave withered, the children grew older and Peter grew more bitter. After a few years, Harry had grown up to be an overweight eleven year old who skipped school and bullied other children. Victoria had grown up to be a nasty nine year old who thought she was better than everybody else and easily charmed the grownups to gain their favour. Mim, however, was forgotten about, her father had not even remembered to let her go to school, she just sat at home all day playing with her stuffed seal Fifi, which was the only toy she had ever had and her dog that she called "Dog". Mim had become a very beautiful and calm seven year old girl.

Harry and Victoria were constantly bothering Mim, slapping her and playing pranks on her. Their father really didn't pay much attention, he had become very bitter and especially did not care for Mim. One Halloween, Victoria and Harry went to their father and Victoria, who was good at charming grownups, spoke to him "Daddy, we would never do anything to sweet little Mim, but, after all, it is Halloween, so we were thinking, maybe, we could just do a little prank on her." Usually they didn't ask for permission, but they wanted their prank to be extra big this time and they wanted some help and advice from their father to prepare it. Just to get the props and plan it, of course, the prank, they would play themselves.

Their father didn't at all mind, he thought, this oughta teach that child and he went to town to get some props for the prank. Then Victoria spoke to Harry "But, town is far to go to, it will probably take a while until he gets back and we couldn't possibly start the prank without the props." Harry looked sad. "But", Victoria added, "We don't need to play a prank on the stupid child this time! Let's just kill her and tell Daddy she just had an accident!" Harry put a huge smile on his face.

They went to Mim and Victoria spoke to her "Mim, do you want to play with us?"
"No", Mim replied.
So Victoria asked her "Why not, sweetie?"
"Because... ...You're gonna hit me", Mim replied.
So Victoria assured her "Not at all, sweetie, don't you trust your bigger sister?"
Dog started barking.
"Dog tells me not to trust you. Now leave me alone!", Mim replied.
So Harry and Victoria went away to figure out another way to fool their sister.

After a while they came back to Mim and Victoria spoke to her "Mim, do you want to drink lemonade with us?"
"No", Mim replied.
So Victoria asked her "Why not, sweetie?"
"Because... ...The lemonade is poisoned", Mim replied.
So Victoria assured her "Not at all sweetie, don't you trust your bigger sister?"
Dog started barking.
"Dog tells me not to trust you. Now leave me alone!" Mim replied.
So, Harry and Victoria once again went away to figure out a way to kill their little sister.

After a while they came back to Mim and Victoria spoke to her "Mim, do you want to go up to the roof and play with us there? We'll teach you how to fly!"
"No", Mim replied.
So Victoria asked her "Why not, sweetie?"
"Because... ...You're gonna push me off the roof", Mim replied.
So Victoria assured her "Not at all, sweetie. Don't you trust your bigger sister?"
Mim looked at Dog. He was asleep.
"Alright, then, I guess I'll play with you for once", Mim replied.

Her siblings had never before made such efforts to get her to play with them, maybe they really meant it this time, maybe they finally thought she was big enough to play with. So, they all went up to the roof, Mim brought her stuffed seal, Fifi. Victoria spoke to her little sister, "Flap with your arms like this and then jump and fly away!" So, Mim started flapping her arms and jumped off the roof and flew away. Her siblings just stood on the roof looking surprised, they didn't know children could fly for real. They looked each other in the face and jumped off the roof and fell down and died instantly.

The end
