Movies

I watch a lot of movies and I thought I might as well make a little movie review list thingie... Just for the funk of it you know. For fun I mean. For my own future reference and to warn you random strangers/friends out there about the evil stupid mega bad movies out there that you should never let your poor brain endure.

Here are the twenty most recently, by me watched/rewatched films.

SHIMOTSUMA MONOGATARI (Japan, 2004)
Great movie. Also known as Kamikaze Girls. I've watched and rewatched it a few times, it's pretty good, definitely worth watching and rewatching. It's about two teen girls that are pretty much opposites but who meet and become friends anyway. One of them is a tough girl who wears frilly dresses while the other one is in a biker gang, but is quite insecure.

BORAT: CULTURAL LEARNINGS OF AMERICA FOR MAKE BENEFIT GLORIOUS NATION OF KAZAKHSTAN (USA, 2006)
So freakin funny. I've watched it over and over. Lots of the scenes in the movie are real, "Borat" pretended to be a real reporter and I guess some people thought he was and were more or less creeped out by or scared of him. This strange character goes out and meets people and so you can see how people react in different situations.

HATCHET (USA, 2006)
Whatever. It's hardly a good movie. I don't hate it, I guess. I'm not sure if it's a bad horror film or just a kinda inappropriate comedy. I don't really have a strong opinion on this movie, I guess you can watch it if you can't find a better movie, but then it is nothing much you're missing if you don't watch it.

JEEPERS CREEPERS (Germany/USA, 2001)
It's OK, I guess. This is supposed to be a horror movie, well, it was more disgusting than it was frightening. The weird monster kills people to eat certain parts of their body, depending on what part he needs at the moment. It is not realistic in any way and not a very good movie, but it was quite OK, considering lots of horror is total crap.

JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 (USA, 2003)
Crappy sequel. Like the movie reviewed above, but more sequelly and definitely a whole lot worse. This time, the story isn't as scary as the first movie, when some teens had to find out about the evil monster and the horrible things it does. No, you already knew what the monster does if you watched the first movie, this was just a movie about a bunch of teens who get killed by it, not much of an interesting story.

SAW (USA, 2004)
This is a pretty freakin good movie. Horror movies are rarely actually scary, this one was pretty brutal though. It's about a killer who gives his victims ultimata that are really truly horrifying. Of course it's only fiction, but in real life you sure as hell wouldn't wanna have to choose between crawling through a painful potentially deadly maze to get the key to get out and to be locked in there until your time runs out and you will be killed.

MAJO NO TAKKYUBIN (Japan, 1989)
Great movie! Is also known as Kiki's Delivery Service. I've seen this movie so so many times. It's a cute anime film about a thirteen year old girl named Kiki who is a witch and she has to practice her witch powers according to tradition, but since flying a broomstick is the only witch power she really knows, she decides to start a delivery service - By broomstick!

BOMBAY DREAMS (Sweden, 2004)
Such a sweet movie! I've watched it a buncha times. It's about two best friends in Sweden, Ebba and Camilla. They are normal teen girls, Ebba lives with her adoptive mother and Camilla lives with her dad. Then Ebba accidentally finds some letters from her birth mother and finds that her adoptive mom had hid them from her and so she and her friend plan to go to India and visit Ebba's birth mom - Without telling their parents!

HALLOWEEN (USA, 1978)
Shit movie. Don't even bother. This is supposedly a horror movie, but all it is about is really a bunch of stupid teens and once in a while somebody dies. It's not even scary. Just boring bad acting, 70's clothes and stupid teens, nothing really interesting in it. Unless you're into 70's casual wear.

SPLICED (Canada, 2002)
It's pretty good. It's somewhere in between a decent horror movie and a not all too crappy teen movie. Also known as The Wisher. It's about a girl who watches a horror movie and then sees the monster of the horror movie show up in the real world. One thing that made it really unrealistic, though is that the movie she watched, where she saw the monster, was supposedly so scary that people go crazy after they see it, but the part where the main character and her friends watch the movie, it seems like the scary monster movie really is pretty lame, which makes the whole thing kinda unrealistic.

HOUSE OF THE DEAD (Canada/Germany/USA, 2003)
Crap movie. Don't waste your time. This claims to be horror, but it's really just a crappy movie where a buncha stupid teens kill "undead" people. Horror movies are scary when the feel is "oh dear we're all gonna die", not when the feel is "we're a buncha stupid teens killing evil creatures in slow motion with a rock music soundtrack." That is just pathetic.

LA MONJA (Spain/USA, 2005)
Crap movie. English title is The Nun. But it doesn't matter because it sucks. This is supposed to be a horror movie. But don't waste your time. Way too many special effects. Evil nun - Scary. Evil nun ghost with vampire teeth and a weird hissing voice - Lame. Silence in a dark night - Could be eerie. Weird sound effects and shit in a dark night - Less eerie.

DAWN OF THE DEAD (USA, 2004)
Crap movie. Don't waste your time. Or your poor family's time. Or your dogs' time. No, better to have nothing to watch than to watch this. OK, so a lot of people all of a sudden die and then come back to life to eat people's flesh. The few people who survived are a bunch of boring yucky people that spend their time in a mall they live in - Now that undead peeps took over the world - Doing really lame and pathetic things and then they kill some flesh eaters. Crap movie indeed.

HOSTEL (USA, 2005)
Don't waste your time. So, this is supposedly the freakiest sickest shit ever, yeah, the most twisted horror flick ever made! No way. It's a freakin lame movie about nothing at all. Some stupid teens travel Europe to fuck whorey bitches and get obnoxiously drunk and then after a while some people get tortured.

TRANSAMERICA (USA, 2005)
It's pretty good. Well, most parts of it. So, it's about a man who dresses like a woman, then he/she finds out he/she has a son and instead of telling him about it, he/she pretends to be some church lady that's gonna help him out temporarily until he can hopefully take care of himself, without him/her having to get involved.

JANGHWA, HONGRYEON (South Korea, 2003)
Freakin super mega great movie. Also known as A Tale Of Two Sisters. I can't tell you what it's about. But it's a horror movie. It shouldn't be spoiled. It's scary. And very poetic in a way. You have to really pay attention to it and think lots, because they don't really tell you what happens directly, like the crook in a Bond film.

DARKNESS FALLS (Australia/USA, 2003)
Not good. When I watched the beginning of this movie, I was all like... Hey! I recognize this! I saw this a few years ago! And I remembered it's just some crappy movie, but I thought, well, I've already rented it and watched the few first minutes of it anyway, so I watched all of it... It's not much of a movie.

THE CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN (UK, 1957)
Cool! So, of course, it being a movie from the 1950's, there would be a whole lotta flaws and bad acting, but hey, that's just how it is. Anyway, this is pretty cool, you know. Real old-school horror. So, it ain't really very scary or realistic, but in those days, people had like never seen a horror movie before, so yeah... This was actually pretty wikid.

TOMIE (Japan, 1999)
Cool! Tomie is an 18-year old Japanese girl, who is so beautiful that everyone she meets either gets jealous of her or falls in love with her. She drives people mad, they kill each other over her. When she gets killed, she always comes back to life and the same thing happens over and over.

SKENBART - EN FILM OM TÅG (Sweden, 2003)
Super mega great awesome comedy! This is quite a classic and really great! In Sweden, 1945, the train is leaving the station. The people on the train - A nice guy who accidentally makes things go wrong, a guy who keeps getting injured but is still happy, a man who plans to kill his wife, his mistress who will help him kill the wife and a bunch of other weird characters!
