So, You're New To The Internet

So, you've just got on the internet for the first time ever and you don't know where to start? Well, then here's the guide for you. Whether you're young or old, whether it's your first time on the internet or you just need to catch up: Here are all the sites you need to visit.

4chan - This is the place where all the internet trends start, where all the creeps hide, where all those things happen that people laugh about and make you feel like an outsider and they go all "Oh, you should've been there!" (Use strong caution on this site)

4shared - I find this place great, instead of making those backup disks and shit, I like to upload my files to the internet so they don't get lost, on 4shared you get lots of storage and you can upload most file types!

Apple - Go to this site and download Safari. It's a much better browser than Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is known to be evil and for stupid people. OK, maybe not, but Safari works much better. There are some other things you can download from Apple as well, if you're into that. (No, it's NOT porn)

AVG - Go here to download their free anti-virus program. I don't know if it works or not, because I haven't got any viruses at the moment, but either way, I find that AVG is much less annoying than most other programs.

Facebook - Everybody has Facebook. Ev. Ree. Boh. Dee. Everybody. If you don't, people will pick on you. Your grandma even has Facebook! It's a great place to quickly keep in touch with basically everyone you know or are even remotely acquainted to.

Firefox - Go here. Download the Firefox browser. Why?, you ask. I've already downloaded the Safari browser, you say. Well, for some reason some websites don't work if you use Safari. Use Safari as your main browser and use Firefox on those websites that aren't cool enough to work on Safari.

Flickr - Go here. If you're a photographer, upload your photos here. It's really easy to register if you already have a Yahoo! e-mail address. (See below) This is one of the most popular photo sharing communities and quite easy to use.

Google - This is the god of the internet. Here is where you go, whenever you have something to search for. Google has a lot of other services besides being a search engine. Use as many of those services as you like, you'll only need to register one account.

Hotmail - Get an account here. They have a whole bunch of services, most of them slightly inferior to both Google and Yahoo! (See below), but it's always good to have a Hotmail, everyone has one and don't forget to download Windows Live Messenger, you can use your Hotmail address (and some other addresses too) on there!

Lime Wire - Go here. Download Lime Wire. Why?, you ask. I've only downloaded two browsers even though I already had one, you say. Well, Lime Wire isn't a browser. It's the program you use to download all the cool music and comedy shows you like.

Miniclip - This is the biggest online game website... Online. They have a nice sortiment of different kind of Flash-games. Good place to go when you are bored. Some games are very addictive, some are just boring.

Photobucket - This is another photo sharing site. I think it's good to keep your works on several sites, so you don't lose it. Also, Flickr and Photobucket have such different perks. They are good for different things, so I prefer to use both.

Wikipedia - Here is where you go to learn stuff. They have articles here about pretty much everything, so there's pretty much to read. They also link to some other cool Wikimedia projects. Of those, I recommend Commons.

Yahoo! - See, this is the website I mentioned on the "Flickr" introduction. If you have a Yahoo! account you can easily use that for Flickr. Yahoo has a bunch of other things as well. Look around, it's a big website.

YouTube - Don't register! Just use your Google account. I told you the Google account covers many services. Well, YouTube is one of those. Here, you can find a lot of short videos of different kinds and upload your own!

That's it: You're good to go! I think you'll find all the other parts of the internet on your own now... Or at least the parts you WANT to find!
